Born into one of the most prominent political families in the United States, Benoit “Ben” Organa is the poster child of privilege and its tied in tragedies. The son of Leia Organa and Han Solo grew up in a wealthy but tumultuous household riddled with constant drama and strife.Ben learned to be self-sufficient early in life as both parents were absent during his formative years. Leia spent most of her time wrapped up in politics, first as State Senator and later on as Secretary of State; the duties of her position often keeping her away from home.
Han Solo served in the Air Force as an Air Chief Marshal. When he wasn’t out on deployment Solo worked in the Private Sector running his own shipping business, with the help of the Organa name.Ben’s parent’s separated while he was in elementary school. Their volatile dynamic bled into their every day lives and in the raising of their son. Abuse, both physical and mental, was common in the Organa/Solo home. As a child, Ben learned from his father that numbing painful moments was easily done, albeit temporarily, with a bottle of whiskey. From his mother he learned to persevere and move forward, no matter the obstacles set in front of him. There was little room for failure in the young man’s life. Perfection was expected.Ben spent his late teenage years with his grandmother, Breha. Both parents agreed it would be best for him to live with a neutral party after father and son came to blows, a sometimes daily occurrence if Han was home and inebriated. The years spent at his grandmothers were the most stable ones for Ben. Breha encouraged him to find healthy outlets for his anger and got him help for his already habitual alcohol consumption.Even with all of the support Ben relapsed; he often drank while in school and got into countless fights. Violence was an outlet, a way to temper the ever growing anger that threatened to spill from inside: anger at himself for being the son of two people who didn’t want a child, anger at his parents, anger at being born into a legacy he did not want. While he struggled with his addictions and violent tendencies, Ben was an exceptional student. He knew early on that he wanted to leave his family’s legacy behind, to make a name for himself.The Senator studied Political Science at Brown and Law at Columbia. He graduated at the top of his class, earning him an offer from one of the most prestigious firms in NYC, Sullivan, Watkins, & Kirkland. After climbing the Associate ranks, Ben earned the firm’s top Litigator role and was on the fast track to earn a Senior Partner position. However, his less than stellar behavior outside of the court room led to him being forced to take a less prestigious role in the firm’s Corporate Law department.Working in corporate law exposed Ben to a world he tried so hard to avoid. His clients often encouraged the driven man to pursue politics, looking to have an inside man in office. For Ben, the thought of following in his families’ footsteps was an unpleasant one: memories of an absent mother, a family legacy placed on his shoulders, a duty he did not think he was fit for.It wasn’t until he stopped practicing law, for personal reasons that he made the rash decision to pursue a career in politics. It was, after all, a path he was trained for and one he could focus all of his energy on. A way to forget his former life. With the help of his mother, Ben campaigned and ran for office. It was with a young, inexperienced agenda that he put his name on the ballot, thinking he would not win. To his, and his family's surprise, he was elected into office in 2020. Currently, he is living in New York City working through his first year as Senator all while trying to juggle his addictions and a dark past that continues to haunt him.
